Long before Two for the Row'd existed, Wexford was already part of Nicola's story. Childhood days around Duncannon and Curracloe turned into later trips with Podge — quieter beaches, coastal villages, country houses, castles and some wonderfully unexpected heritage stops.
Wexford has been part of Nicola's story for a long time. She spent many childhood summers around Duncannon and Curracloe — two beaches that still bring back those unmistakable memories of Irish summer holidays by the sea.
Years later, exploring Wexford with Podge has brought a different appreciation of the county. These days, we're just as likely to seek out the calm of Blackwater Beach, wander around a historic house or garden, or find one of those wonderfully unexpected places that ends up becoming a Two for the Row'd favourite.
And that's really Wexford for us. It can be the famous sweep of Curracloe, the harbour at Kilmore Quay or a summer afternoon in Courtown — but it's also Johnstown Castle, Wells House, the Kennedy story, an extraordinary Masonic Lodge hidden away in Gorey, and quiet stretches of coastline where you can sometimes feel like you've got Wexford entirely to yourself.

Watch our Duncannon Short ↓Curracloe's huge sweep of sand is Wexford's best-known beach. The opening D-Day sequences of Saving Private Ryan were filmed here and on adjoining Ballinesker — but for Nicola, its connection goes back much further than Hollywood.
These days, Nicola and Podge have a particular appreciation for the calm of Blackwater. It's the sort of Wexford beach that suits a slower wander rather than a packed itinerary.
A peaceful fishing village with a very different feel from the big beach resorts. Come for the harbour, the sea air and that unmistakable south-Wexford atmosphere.

A gorgeous little Hook Peninsula beach and one of those places that proves Wexford's coast is about far more than the famous names.
Rosslare is one of the county's long-established seaside bases, while Ballymoney gives north Wexford another beautiful stretch of coast. Both are easy additions to a wider Wexford road trip.

One thing we don't want to do on Two for the Row'd is pretend we've personally experienced somewhere when we haven't. So this section is deliberately our Wexford wish list.
Ireland's seal rescue centre is in County Wexford and is firmly on our list. We haven't visited yet — when we do, it'll move into the first-hand part of this guide.
We're treating this as a living guide rather than a finished checklist. More towns, beaches and heritage finds will be added as we revisit the county.
