We've visited Fuengirola three times now. Each time we come back, we stay a little longer. The beach is beautiful, the weather is perfect, and there are people we keep going back to see. The most recent visit was in 2024 with Padraig, visiting friends in the area. Fuengirola has become the kind of place that doesn't need much justification — we just want to be there.
Fuengirola is not dramatic. It's not famous like Barcelona. It's not culturally important like Madrid. But it has something that matters more — it has the kind of atmosphere and people that make you want to stay. The first visit was a surprise. The second time we came back because we'd enjoyed it. By the third time, it was simply a place we wanted to be.
The beach is genuinely beautiful. The weather is reliably good. And the seafront is the kind of place where you sit with a beer and watch life happen. St Patrick's Bar's karaoke nights became a running joke — Padraig singing the Cranberries on a warm Spanish evening became one of those travel moments you don't forget.
Long, sandy, golden. Perfect for swimming, sunbathing, or just sitting and watching the Mediterranean. The real heart of Fuengirola.
Beer, coffee, tapas, and time to think. The seafront café culture is the best part of Fuengirola.
Being on the Mediterranean means excellent fish restaurants. The seafood is fresh and the prices are reasonable.
Irish bar on the seafront with karaoke nights and a good mix of locals and travelers. Where memories are made.
18th century castle with views across the coast. Worth the visit if you want something beyond the beach.
The coastline is beautiful for walking — head east or west along the beach and you'll find quieter spots.
Beachfront hotels, inland apartments, and everything in between. The seafront is central and convenient. Inland offers better value.
