Prague —
ten days and we still didn't want to leave

We spent 10 days in Prague in August 2024 and absolutely loved every single day of it. A city of extraordinary architecture, brilliant food and drink, brilliant public transport and some of the most unique experiences we've had anywhere in the world — a robotic bar, an ice bar, a beer and wine bath, a medieval dinner and a Czech food and drink tour. Prague completely exceeded expectations and then some.

🇨🇿 The Trip

Ten days in one of Europe's most extraordinary cities.

"Prague is one of those cities that stops you in your tracks at every corner. The architecture is astonishing, the atmosphere is electric and there is always something new to discover. Ten days flew by and we still felt like we hadn't scratched the surface."

We arrived in Prague in August 2024 expecting a lovely European city break. What we got was one of the most memorable trips we've done in years. Prague is genuinely extraordinary — the Old Town is like walking through a living museum of Gothic, Baroque and Art Nouveau architecture, the food and drink scene is brilliant, and the city has a way of making you feel like you could wander forever without getting bored.

The heat in August was something — properly hot for Central Europe — but the city's public transport system made getting around so easy that we never felt like we were spending our time sweating through the streets. The metro, trams and buses are cheap, reliable and brilliantly connected. The Prague Visitor Pass is absolutely worth getting if you're planning to use transport and visit attractions.

We did all the obvious things — Prague Castle, Charles Bridge, the Astronomical Clock in Old Town Square — and they absolutely lived up to the hype. But it was the less obvious stuff that really made the trip. The robotic bar was one of the most fun nights we've had anywhere. The beer and wine bath was genuinely brilliant. The medieval dinner was class. The Czech food and drink tour gave us context and stories that made everything taste better.

And for gluten-free travellers — Prague was a genuine surprise. Czech craft beer culture has embraced GF options and we had no problem finding good gluten-free beers in pubs throughout the city. It made the whole experience even better.

The highlights — what Prague does brilliantly

🏰
Prague Castle

The largest ancient castle complex in the world — perched on a hill above the city with breathtaking views across Prague's rooftops and spires. The walk up is worth every step and the views from the top are unforgettable.

🌉
Charles Bridge

The iconic medieval stone bridge lined with baroque statues crossing the Vltava River. Go early morning to beat the crowds and get the best light for photos — it is magical when it's quiet.

🕐
Astronomical Clock & Old Town Square

The medieval Astronomical Clock is one of the most fascinating pieces of engineering you'll ever see — and the Old Town Square surrounding it is one of the most beautiful public spaces in Europe.

🤖
The Robotic Bar

One of the most unique experiences we've had anywhere — your drinks are made and served entirely by robots. Part cocktail bar, part show, completely brilliant. An absolute must for a night out in Prague.

🧊
The Ice Bar

Everything is made of ice — the walls, the bar, the glasses. You get a warm suit to wear and it is genuinely brilliant fun. A unique Prague experience that you won't find in many other cities.

🛁
Beer & Wine Bath

Soaking in a warm bath of beer or wine while drinking unlimited Czech beer is one of those uniquely Prague experiences that sounds mad but is absolutely brilliant. The hops are good for your skin too — that's our excuse anyway.

⚔️
Medieval Dinner

A full medieval banquet with entertainment, costumes and proper hearty Czech food. Great craic and a brilliant way to spend an evening — especially if you've already done the castle and want to keep the historic vibes going.

🍺
Czech Food & Drink Tour

One of the best things we did in Prague — a guided tour through the best Czech food and drink the city has to offer. Gave us context, stories and the inside track on where to eat and drink for the rest of the trip.

🚢
Vltava River Evening Cruise

An evening cruise along the Vltava with prosecco and stunning views of Prague lit up at night — one of those experiences that makes you fall even more in love with a city. Absolutely beautiful.

Common questions

Prague FAQ

Is Prague worth visiting?
Absolutely — Prague is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe and genuinely one of those places that exceeds expectations. The architecture is extraordinary, the food and drink scene is brilliant and there is so much to do that 10 days flew by. We loved every minute of it and would go back tomorrow.
Is Prague good for gluten-free travellers?
Prague is surprisingly good for gluten-free beer — Czech craft beer culture has embraced GF options and we had no problem finding GF beers in pubs throughout the city. Food-wise it requires a bit more research but the city is becoming more aware of dietary requirements and we always found something good to eat.
What is the beer and wine bath in Prague like?
It is exactly what it sounds like — and it is brilliant. You soak in a bath of warm beer or wine, the minerals and hops are great for your skin, and there is usually unlimited beer to drink while you soak. It is one of those uniquely Czech experiences that sounds mad but is absolutely worth doing. Book it in advance as it gets busy.
What is the robotic bar in Prague?
The robotic bar is one of Prague's most unique experiences — your drinks are made and served entirely by robots. It is part show, part bar and genuinely great fun. The cocktails are good too. A brilliant night out and unlike anything you will have experienced before. Definitely worth doing.
How many days do you need in Prague?
We spent 10 days and it flew by. Most people do Prague as a 3-4 day city break but having more time meant we could explore properly without rushing and really soak up the atmosphere. We would say 5-7 days minimum to do it justice — there is genuinely so much to see and do.
Is public transport good in Prague?
Excellent — Prague has a brilliant metro, tram and bus network that is cheap, reliable and easy to use. We used public transport throughout our 10 days and never had any issues getting around. The Prague Visitor Pass is great value if you are planning to use public transport and visit a lot of attractions — it pays for itself quickly.
